It’s been an annual tradition that every summer we visit our uncle, aunt, and cousins in San Diego. I look forward to each visit very much—it’s one of the highlights of my year. :) In fact, a few of us were counting down the days until we would leave for their house. Philip and Timmy would get in bed earlier than usual so that the time would pass quicker.
Finally the day arrived. We live only about a two hours’ drive from the Harrison’s house, so we arrived in the early afternoon with plenty of time yet to swim. (The Harrison’s neighbors gave us permission to use their pool in their absence. We were very thankful!) That evening Marcia took Rebecca, Paul, and me to Prayer Meeting. When we got home we talked.
Thursday was another fun day. We were able to go swimming a lot, and just relax and rest. Actually for some of us, this annual trip to the Harrison’s is our one chance of the year to go swimming. Therefore we take advantage of that fact. :) That evening we wen

Julianna Faith Johnson was born yesterday, August 4, 2007 at 8:40 am! She weighed 9 lbs. 6 oz and measured 21 1/4 inches long.

This morning we got up and did our usual schedule. Then a very exciting thing happened. Daddy came home early from work to take Paul, Philip, and me on a picnic. Rachel, Rebecca, and Mama made a lunch for us of hot dog sandwiches, cookies, and grapes. Daddy put the lunch in his bike basket and we all put on our helmets and got on our bikes. We rode to the park and it was very far from home. At the park first we ate our lunch and then we played with Philip’s “Dart” (which is like a small football with a tail). Then we sped around the park on our bikes while Daddy was looking at an airplane that is at the park. Then we rode home. While we went home, we were crossing a busy street and we saw Mama waving at us as she was driving home from the store. It was a very busy morning and lots of fun.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of taking Cheri, Rachel and Rebecca to Descanso Gardens in La Canada. I never knew this place was here, even though it is at the base of the mountains I hiked all over in my younger years.
It was fun to see how much the girls enjoyed the roses, especially Cheri. She was a flower amongst the roses. (I really wanted to use that phrase, because it’s what I thought when I watched her browsing in the gardens of roses.)
Rachel and Rebecca really enjoyed exploring on the trails. They were running all over the place. I think they were most impressed with the large carp that were swimming in the lake with the turtles.
Afterwards we enjoyed a lunch at The Old Spaghetti Factory in Duarte.
