Our Family
Michael and Cheri
Michael Alan
Birthday: August 22

Michael (Daddy) works for Honeywell Aerospace in Quality Assurance in the lab and testing department. We are proud of his faithful and excellent work, by which God has so faithfully supplied our needs for so many years. Dad enjoys taking Mama on dates and treating her in special ways (He would drive her everywhere she needed to go if it were physically possible!) He also likes to take a few children at a time on fun outings. Dad enjoys bike riding, taking walks, and reading. He is very creative with making up songs and nicknames for his family members, or entertaining them with funny stories. Dad’s favorite dream is that he could move us to a rural area—you know—lots of space, beautiful countryside, peace and quiet, a big garden, lots of trees, chickens……etc!.

Cheri Lynn
Birthday: June 10

Cheri (Mom, Mommy, Mama) feels very blessed to be a full time wife and mother. She enjoys the big variety of jobs that mothering entails (even "doctoring" and haircutting, but especially things like reading to the children!). She actually ends up spending the majority of her time teaching/nurturing the younger children, counseling and talking with the older children, grocery shopping and cooking (there are everlasting food demands with seven hungry guys :) ), and trying to keep up with never ending laundry. The family is used to adapting to new schedules and charts, as she continually seeks to get herself and the children on the “best possible” schedule, striving to make the best use of time in order to get as much of God’s Word into each heart as possible (The goal--for each child to love, trust, and obey the Lord and to love and serve others), to get all our work done (Is that possible? The second law of thermodynamics works overtime here!), and to have all the training/education that we need.

Jonathan Michael
Birthday: August 9, 1981 (28)

Jonathan has started his own software consulting business after spending close to five years working as a software engineer in the IP telephony industry. If he has free time in the evening, it is often filled with a Master’s seminary class, Prayer Meeting, instrument practice, Bible study preparation, other studies, “working out”, and basketball with his brothers. He enjoys taking breaks from his routine to play volleyball, tennis, table-tennis, and to go on an occasional fishing trip. He enjoys a wide variety of fishing—from bass fishing at local parks to giant tuna way out on the ocean. Jonathan really enjoys his various music ministries— directing the church choir, singing in a men’s chorus, playing trombone in a brass quintet and the church orchestra, and playing the piano for church services.

Kyle Daniel
Birthday: February 23, 1986 (23)

Kyle is the rugged outdoor type of guy. He would have fit right in as an old west cowboy! Some of his favorite things are horseback riding, shooting guns, and backpacking in the wilderness. Kyle has been studying and taking tests for credit to graduate with a BS in Business Administration. His goal is to do camp work and missionary work with Eskimos in the “wilds” of Alaska. He is planning toward becoming a pilot and getting other training for his life work. Kyle enjoys working with children and the children love him! He keeps very busy with music ministry (singing bass in a men’s choir and the church choir, playing trumpet in orchestra and a brass quintet, and playing guitar in a blue grass group), Bible study, leading and teaching in SWORD (a children’s Scripture memory program), keeping up with two part time jobs, plus all the work around the house he does for his family. He sparkles up our lives by his creativity and his sense of humor.

Andrew Kent
Birthday: April 27, 1989 (20)

Andrew has a wide variety of interests and abilities. He enjoys many of the things that Jonathan and Kyle like (backpacking, horseback riding, shooting, basketball, fishing, computer programming and webdesign), which makes for a lot of great times together with his brothers. He is the one who created and maintains our website, plus other ones as well. He also is the one who takes most of the pictures for our site—for which we are very grateful. He does computer work for other people, landing the jobs from over the internet. Even though Andrew has a confident, “in charge” personality, it is nicely balanced by his servant spirit and his sense of humor. Andrew is the guy that you go to for help when “things” just don’t cooperate—when household items don’t work, the computer is doing weird things, or the house is breaking. :) He is always so kind to help and he usually figures out how. Andrew leads the games and teaches in SWORD, sings in the church choir, and plays the banjo in a bluegrass group.

Rachel Beth
Birthday: March 13, 1991 (18)

Rachel brings joy to our home by her brightness and energy. She makes work look fun by her bouncy steps, sparkly eyes and cheery smiles. And work she does! She faithfully studies, practices piano and violin, and serves her family by her diligent housework, usually doing far more than her part. Rachel enjoys everything she does, whether she is gardening, cooking, sewing, taking care of babies, cleaning, studying the Bible, writing letters, studying (history is her favorite, but she even enjoys math—when she understands it, that is!), reading, or teaching SWORD & a children’s Sunday School class—no matter what it is, she puts her heart into it and tries to give others joy through it. She blesses us by her kindness, encouragement, and loving concern. One of Rachel’s favorite things to do is to work on the book she is writing. Her writing reflects her sweet and cheery attitudes, and in a delightful way it teaches the precious truths she is learning from the Lord. She's very close with and devoted to her family, and loves to pattern herself after Mama, who is her role-model.

Rebecca Ann
Birthday: February 2, 1993 (17)

If we were to discribe Rebecca's interests in one word, it would be "babies". She loves to “mother” and love all the little children and babies in her life (especially Tom and Katie’s babies), and she hopes to have many of her own. If she does not have her own family someday, she believes God would call her to a ministry of taking care of babies or young children another way, whether it be orphans or other people's children. Rebecca has recently been enjoying playing the piano and is looking into learning the mandolin. She loves to read, cook, garden, and sometimes she even likes to clean, too. :) She has been doing a lot of sewing recently, and has a lot of goals to do more. She also enjoys teaching Sunday School and SWORD, and spending time with her all her friends. Her best friends are right in her family, though--She spends a great deal of time talking to Mama, who is her close heart-friend. :) We greatly enjoy Rebecca's happy laugh, NUMEROUS hugs, kisses, and loving words, and the thoughtful and often deep conversations she instigates.

Paul Jeffrey
Birthday: March 23, 1995 (14)

Paul has reached the twelve-year milestone of young manhood. He is growing in responsibility and character. He greatly enjoys bike riding and exploring new territory, and he is always chomping at the bit to be free to see and experience new things. Wherever he goes, he takes in every detail, observing and learning about all kinds of things. He even thinks riding in the car is interesting, especially when he can see new sights. He almost always goes grocery shopping with Mama, so that he can get out of the house and help Mama at the same time. He really likes to help people. He easily learns skills on the computer by closely watching his big brothers. Reading has been a favorite pastime of Paul’s for years, probably because it is an avenue to leave the ordinary, and have something different to think about. Needless to say, tedious schoolwork and chores are not enjoyable for Paul and it is a real accomplishment for him to stay on task. Paul is learning piano and trumpet, and he enjoys playing basketball with his older brothers.

Philip Jeremy
Birthday: May 15, 1997 (12)

Philip is a very logical young man with a smiley, laughing, and cheerful manner. He shows love by thoughtful deeds. He is usually rather quiet in new social situations, but he is quite talkative when he is comfortable. Philip likes to lead and be in command and to have everything under control. You can see it in the smooth, controlled way he plays sports and the way he organizes his clothes cupboard. Philip enjoys playing basketball, soccer, and other sports with his brothers and friends at church, as well as bike riding, skating, climbing trees, building complex machinery or interesting creations with Legos or FisherTechnic, fishing and camping, and reading (his most frequent fun activity.) Math is his favorite school subject. He is also enjoying learning to play the piano. Though Philip is “all boy”, he also has a cuddly side, which you can see when he shows you his Teddy bear collection. :)

Timothy James
Birthday: April 8, 1999 (10)

Timothy is a sparkly-eyed eight year old who says that his very favorite thing about his life is vacation weeks off school (this is an accurate portrayal of his enjoyment of work!) Actually, he does a very good job on his schoolwork when he sets his mind to it, and he enjoys reading very much. Timmy finds history very interesting, especially the 1700 and 1800’s. He likes to dress up in his army uniform and play exciting adventures with Philip. They like to dig big holes in the backyard for trenches. He enjoys being the youngest and he still likes to cuddle with Mama while she reads to him. (Mama likes it, too!)
